Microsoft Dynamics AX Architect / SME / Lead

Job Description

The AX Architect / SME will serve as the core functional and technical expert for the legacy Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 environment. This role is responsible for assessing the existing AX 2009 architecture, overseeing the migration of the application servers and underlying SQL Server databases, configuring AX Application Object Server (AOS) services, and ensuring business data continuity and system validation throughout the migration lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Phase 1 (Discovery): Assess the existing on-premises AX 2009 architecture, database, and infrastructure dependencies. Document risks and contribute to the migration plan.
• Phase 3 (Migration): Lead the lift-and-shift migration of AX 2009 application servers and SQL databases. Configure AX AOS services and SSRS/SSAS reporting components.
• Phase 4 & 5 (Testing & Support): Troubleshoot and resolve configuration and migration defects. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), production cutover, and provide Hypercare and knowledge transfer to client administrators.

Technical Skills Required

• Core ERP Platform: Deep technical expertise in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 architecture (AOS, MorphX, X++ development environment).
• Database & Reporting: Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server administration (specifically older versions compatible with AX 2009), including SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services).
• Infrastructure Knowledge: Legacy on-premises Windows Server environments and active directory integrations supporting AX 2009.
