COBOL/EDI Developer

Hansen Talent Group is seeking an experienced COBOL developer to support a large enterprise EDI environment, working heavily with high volume data for Mainframe applications.

The COBOL developer will design, build, and support Mainframe applications and EDI transactions to meet internal and external client requirements, ensuring transactional data flows run efficiently and meet HIPAA and security compliance requirements.

Duties:

• Write and test COBOL applications to support core business operations and transactional data flows.
• Update and optimize workflows and code structures to support business changes and increase application efficiency.
• Create and manage scheduled jobs within the system using JCL.
• optimize file transfers supporting X12 file formats.
• Support DB2 and VSAM databases, managing data retrieval for the application workflow.
• Collaborate with other tech teams to integrate modern systems and security tools, ensuring the COBOL application retains integrity and meets federal, state, and company security regulations.
• Troubleshoot application issues, debug code, and perform root cause analysis to ensure high functionality and compliance.
• Create technical documentation and workflows.
