The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in OpenTelemetry (OTel), distributed tracing, metrics, logging, and telemetry pipeline engineering. You will play a key role in instrumenting SaaS platforms, cloud infrastructure, applications, and network environments while establishing enterprise observability standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement end-to-end instrumentation for SaaS applications using OpenTelemetry (OTel) SDKs.
Instrument applications developed in Java, Python, Go, Node.js, and .NET.
Implement distributed tracing, metrics, and structured logging using OpenTelemetry standards.
Define and enforce OpenTelemetry semantic conventions and attribute naming standards.
Build secure multi-tenant observability solutions with tenant-level telemetry isolation.
Deploy, configure, and manage OpenTelemetry Collector across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
Configure OTLP receivers, processors, exporters, and telemetry pipelines.
Instrument Kubernetes platforms (EKS, AKS, GKE) and containerized workloads.
Implement observability for serverless platforms such as AWS Lambda and Google Cloud Run.
Integrate and normalize cloud monitoring metrics from CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and Google Cloud Monitoring.
Collect and correlate network telemetry including NetFlow, sFlow, IPFIX, SNMP, and BGP.
Implement W3C Trace Context propagation across applications, services, and network boundaries.
Own Application Performance Monitoring (APM) instrumentation for distributed systems.
Instrument asynchronous messaging platforms including Kafka, Amazon SQS, and Celery.
Capture custom spans, database queries, exceptions, and error fingerprints.
Define and implement Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
Build reusable OpenTelemetry instrumentation libraries and language-specific wrappers.
Develop and enforce enterprise-wide observability standards and governance.
Author instrumentation documentation, technical standards, and RFCs.
Collaborate with platform, application, network, and AIOps teams to align telemetry strategies.
Optimize telemetry pipelines using head sampling, tail sampling, and cardinality management.
Monitor and improve telemetry pipeline scalability, reliability, and performance.
Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and ensure high-quality observability data across enterprise platforms.
Support enterprise Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and production observability initiatives.
Stay current with OpenTelemetry standards, emerging observability technologies, and industry best practices.
