Student - Library Annex Assistant

This position is for a student assistant to work at Tulane Library Annex and at Howard-Tilton Memorial Library. The Annex is a remote storage facility located at 900 S Norman C Francis Parkway. The work entails assisting with shelving or retrieving materials, shifting collections as needed, and completing basic work in the library's online catalog to ensure materials are correctly identified as being housed at the Annex. Assisting with special projects related to the facility will be a primary function of this position. This job does require the student to have transportation available to get to the Library Annex and to Howard-Tilton Memorial library as needed.

Students should be able to work a max of 20 hours per week. Shifts to be determined.

Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Hourly Pay Rate: $10.00 - $18.00

• Reshelving, sorting, and preparing book trucks or books to be reshelved for circulation
• Shifting, as needed, in order to accommodate new books on overloaded shelves
• Preparing informational packets for events
• Review/check newly cataloged books and newspapers for processing/labeling errors
• Assisting with exhibits and events
• Answering phones and general clerical assistance as needed
• Helping with special projects
• Completing light cleaning duties
• Pick up packages and mail sent to the department

Qualifications:

• Active enrollment as a student at Tulane University
• A Federal Work Study Award (potentially)
• Prior experience or working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe tools
