Fiber/OTDR Data Analyst (Remote)

Please note that this is a 12 Month Contract position and is Fully Remote. No H-1B or Corp to Corp.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or engineering, or 3 to 5 years of telecommunications industry experience related to either inside or outside plant operations

Required Experience:

• Understanding of fiber optics and telecommunications
• Knowledge of fiber industry standards
• Experience documenting fiber optic networks
• Experience with analytical interpretation of fiber data
• Ability to understand fiber optic specification drawings
• Experience documenting, editing, and modifying records of fiber optic network assets for inside plant and outside plant operations
• Experience researching and analyzing network orders, diagrams, fiber optic routes, documentation, and customer databases for verification and validation of fiber optic network assets
• Experience evaluating fiber optic design issues by studying project concepts, objectives, priorities, and requirements
• Experience gathering, reviewing, and interpreting various data sources for comparison and validation of fiber optic networks
• Experience validating design drawings by identifying, isolating, and resolving performance problems related to data entry for fiber optic network software

Software Skills:

• MapInfo
• Visio
• Microsoft Office
• Google Earth/Maps
• AutoCAD is a plus but not required
• Knowledge of GIS is a plus but not required

Technical Skills:

• Strong understanding of fiber optic networks and telecommunications infrastructure
• Understanding of inside plant and outside plant fiber network operations
• Ability to analyze and validate fiber optic network data
• Ability to interpret fiber optic specification drawings, diagrams, and network routes
• Understanding of databases, queries, spreadsheets, and schematic drawings
• Ability to research and validate building addresses and coordinates using Google Earth/Maps
• Ability to create building footprints using fiber optic network software
• Ability to identify, isolate, and resolve performance problems related to fiber optic network data entry
• Knowledge of GIS and AutoCAD is a plus but not required

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Documents, edits, and modifies records of fiber optic network assets for inside plant and outside plant operations using fiber optic network software.

• Uses research and analysis of network orders, diagrams, fiber optical routes’ documentation, customer databases for verification and validation of the customer fiber optics network assets’ records.

• Evaluates fiber optic designs’ issues by studying project concepts, objectives, priorities and requirements.

• Responsible for gathering, reviewing and interpreting various data sources for comparison and validation of fiber optic network.

• Validates design drawings by identifying, isolating, and resolving performance problems in relation to data entry for fiber optic network software.

• Use of related industry software to include MapInfo, AutoCAD (not required), Visio, Google Earth/Maps and MS Office software.

• Research and validates building address and coordinates using Google Earth/Maps to insure proper location and create building footprint using fiber optic network software.

• Understanding of databases, queries, spreadsheets and schematic drawings.

• Knowledge of GIS and AutoCAD a plus but not required.

Job Description:

Candidates will be responsible for documenting and managing fiber optic network assets for inside and outside plant networks. Candidates will edit and modify network data, research and analyze project information, validate fiber optic network designs, and support project implementation in a highly detailed working environment using fiber optic network industry software.
