Placement Overview

This placement offers a student the opportunity to gain practical experience as a Scientific Officer. The role supports the company’s mission to ensure the safe use and sustainability of chemicals and products across a wide range of industries worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Work alongside experts to support research, data analysis, and compliance‑related activities.
• Combining scientific research, data management, and regulatory interpretation to give a well‑rounded introduction to professional practice within the chemical and life science industries.
• Work on meaningful projects that improve chemical safety and environmental performance.

Requirements

• Advanced Degree with no prior experience, with the opportunity for a one year placement in industry.
• Preferred Fields of Study: Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Engineering).
• Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
• Experience developing and delivering EHS training programs.
• Knowledge in industrial hygiene monitoring, hazardous materials management, and emergency response.
• Ability to analyze EHS data and metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Strong project management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to work with all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across functions.
• Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving and analytical capabilities.
• Additional language skills may be valued.
• Must be able to conduct facility inspections and respond to emergencies, including some physical activity.
