Responsibilities:
- Design and develop high-temperature molten salt vessels, furnaces, and other custom mechanical equipment.
- Create mechanical designs, engineering calculations, fabrication drawings, and technical documentation.
- Support equipment fabrication, testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop innovative mechanical solutions for complex process systems.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, DOE requirements, and industry codes.
- Support engineering reviews, troubleshooting, design improvements, and continuous process optimization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience with high-temperature molten salt vessels and/or furnace design.
- Experience in custom equipment design and fabrication.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
- Successful drug screening.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Department of Energy (DOE), nuclear, national laboratory, or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience designing equipment for high-temperature process, thermal, or metallurgical applications.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is a plus.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance, if required.
Location/Work Arrangement:
- Schedule is full-time, Monday - Friday 40-hour week.
- This position is Hybrid in Oak Ridge, TN, or Remote.
