Per Diem Relief Counselors
Great opportunity to gain experience in human services. We provide training and staff development.
Mohawk Opportunities, Inc. operates Certified Community Residences located in Schenectady for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness who have a continuing need for rehabilitative services. This level of programming is intended to respond to the needs of individuals who have demonstrated an ability to live in a community setting but are not yet ready to live independently. As a Relief Counselor you will provide program support as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties for the Relief Counselor include:
- Providing supportive counseling.
- Providing rehabilitation skills such as teaching of daily living skills including medication management and coping skills, crisis intervention and prevention.
- Facilitating recreational activities for socialization and stress reduction.
- Supervise medications.
- Maintaining a healthy and clean environment for our clients ensuring clients are doing their chores correctly and by assisting with cleaning activities.
Skills/Qualifications for the Relief Counselor include:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid and insurable driver’s license preferred.
- Ability to perform CPR/First Aid required. Training Provided.
- Human Service Experience
- Both the ability to work independently and as a team member
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
