Job Description

Job Title: Mainframe Test Engineer / QA Analyst (Tosca)

Location: Omaha, NE (5 Days Onsite)

Duration: 12+ Months

Role Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mainframe Tester with hands-on experience in Tricentis Tosca to join our Quality Assurance team. You will design, develop, and execute automated and manual test cases for mainframe-based applications, ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance with business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Tricentis Tosca for mainframe (CICS, IMS, batch) and integrated applications.

Execute functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing on mainframe systems (z/OS, DB2, COBOL, JCL).

Analyze requirements and technical specifications to create comprehensive test plans, test cases, and traceability matrices.

Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to identify defects and ensure timely resolution.

Validate batch jobs, file transfers, and database updates; verify JCL execution and ABEND handling.

Maintain test data, environments, and documentation in accordance with QA standards.

Report defects using tools such as Jira, ALM, or ServiceNow; track issues through resolution.

Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning and retrospectives.

Continuously improve test coverage, automation efficiency, and testing processes.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in mainframe testing (COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, VSAM).

2+ years of hands-on experience with Tricentis Tosca, including module creation, test case design, and execution.

Strong understanding of mainframe architecture, batch processing, and online transaction systems.

Proficiency in writing and executing SQL queries for test validation.

Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (Jira, HP ALM, qTest, etc.).

Familiarity with SDLC and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
