JOB TITLE: Senior Java Developer Microservices
WORK LOCATION: Auburn Hills, MI
DURATION: 18+ months
ONSITE / REMOTE: Hybrid
Rate: $110000k/year
NOTES: Prioritize candidates with 7+ years of IT experience, 5+ years of Java development/integration, and strong Spring Boot, microservices, REST/SOAP, API, Kafka, Redis, and AWS experience. Screen for enterprise integration experience and mentoring/technical leadership capabilities. Pls do not exceed the salary range given.

Overview / Summary
We are seeking a Senior Java Developer with strong experience in Java development, enterprise integration, microservices, and web services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining scalable software applications and services while collaborating with technical teams and business users.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed design, development, unit testing, and integration of applications.
  • Produce scalable, flexible, and high-quality code that meets functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Develop configurable software services that support application integration with enterprise services.
  • Identify and analyze technical issues and coordinate their resolution with extended team members.
  • Apply secure development best practices and design patterns.
  • Create and maintain design and systems documentation for developed or modified services and programs.
  • Create process and data flow diagrams to document data movement.
  • Crosstrain team members to ensure knowledge coverage across the team.
  • Analyze and translate business requirements into technical designs.
  • Collaborate and communicate with project teams and business users as required.
  • Support functional and performance testing.
  • Work with technical delivery leads on project activities.
  • Ensure assigned work is implemented within project schedules.
  • Design, develop, deploy, test, and maintain technical assets in SOA, web services, and integration environments.
  • Provide technical leadership in the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and robust microservices using Spring Boot and related frameworks.
  • Mentor junior developers.
  • Integrate with and manage APIs by exposing microservices, including REST and SOAP services.
  • Develop and implement secure RESTful APIs following best practices for API design, security, and performance optimization.
  • Leverage Kafka for real-time data pipelines and event-driven architecture.
  • Implement caching solutions using Redis to improve application performance and scalability.
  • Integrate with AWS services such as SQS and SES for message queuing and email delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers, to support seamless integration and delivery of software solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices within the Java ecosystem and microservices architecture.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of overall IT experience.
  • 5+ years of Java development and integration experience.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise services and microservice concepts.
  • Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, and Spring Batch.
  • Experience developing web services using Java frameworks, including SOAP and REST.
  • Experience with Java/J2EE, JMS, XML, XSLT, XQuery, XSD, SOAP, REST, WSDL, JSON, and JDBC.
  • Experience with API gateways and IBM DataPower.
  • Experience with WebSphere, JBoss, and Tomcat.
  • Experience with authentication and authorization technologies, including SSO, SAML, OAuth, and OIDC.
  • Experience with object-relational mapping tools such as Hibernate.
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle and MySQL.
  • Experience with UML modeling and object-oriented/J2EE design.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Unix shell scripting and Perl.
  • Experience with cloud and continuous integration tools such as SVN/Git, Jira, Jenkins, and Maven.
  • Experience with web portal design and development, including web content management.
  • Familiarity with event-based System of Engagement architectures.
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and robust microservices using Spring Boot and related frameworks.
  • Experience developing secure RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with Kafka for real-time data pipelines and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience implementing Redis caching solutions.
  • Experience integrating with AWS SQS and SES.
  • Experience with waterfall, iterative, and agile methodologies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Automotive OEM experience is a plus.
  • Experience with DevOps in a cloud environment is a plus.
  • Experience with Big Data, cloud databases, and Hadoop is a plus.
