As Head of Business Systems, you will be responsible for the performance, stability and continuous improvement of our core enterprise applications, ensuring they are reliable, secure, cost-effective and aligned to organisational objectives. Working within the technology strategy and architectural principles set by the CIO, you will lead the ownership and optimisation of key business systems, including ERP, clinical and operational platforms, ensuring they deliver exceptional service and support across the organisation.
In this influential leadership role, you will take end-to-end ownership of enterprise applications, driving a service-led approach that focuses on user experience, operational effectiveness and measurable business outcomes. You will lead delivery across multiple system domains, ensuring clear accountability, effective prioritisation and the successful transition of all change initiatives into business-as-usual operations.
You will champion continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance systems, streamline processes and maximise value from technology investments. Working closely with clinical, operational and corporate stakeholders, you will ensure delivery priorities remain aligned with business needs, balancing long-term strategic goals with day-to-day service performance.
A key part of the role will involve leading and embedding a service-led delivery model across functional teams, establishing clear ownership and accountability while maintaining practical and effective governance. You will oversee supplier relationships and commercial agreements, ensuring strong performance, value for money and high-quality service delivery from external partners.
Key Accountabilities:
- Stable and high-performing business systems
- Ensure all core systems are reliable, secure and meet agreed service levels supporting clinical and corporate operations
- Clear ownership and accountability for business systems
- Establish and maintain clear accountability for system performance, aligned to IT Operations and broader service management
- Effective delivery of system improvements
- Oversee delivery of prioritised enhancements that improve operational efficiency, quality and user outcomes
- Optimised system use and adoption
- Drive improved user experience, increased adoption and reduced reliance on workarounds
- Improved operational performance
- Reduce incidents, improve resolution and enhance overall system performance through continuous improvement
- Strong supplier performance
- Ensure third-party providers deliver against contractual expectations and support operational priorities
- Effective team leadership and capability development
- Build and maintain high-performing teams across applications, delivery and training functions
- Proportionate governance of change and delivery
- Ensure appropriate oversight of system changes, balancing risk, speed and business need
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Significant leadership experience in a senior IT or business systems role, with accountability for enterprise-scale systems and services
- Experience of operating at Head of level or equivalent, with accountability for strategic planning, budgets and service performance
- Proven track record of delivering and embedding large-scale system improvements and transformation initiatives
- Experience of operating within, and contributing to, organisational technology strategies and roadmaps
- Demonstrable experience leading service delivery functions, including establishing clear ownership, accountability and performance measures
- Experience of managing complex supplier ecosystems and delivering value through third-party partnerships
- Experience of working within regulated environments (e.g. healthcare, financial services or similar), ensuring compliance and governance requirements are met
- Strong experience of engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, including Executive-level decision-makers
- Experience of building organisational capability, including developing teams, structures and ways of working to support long-term success
- Experience of driving operational performance improvements through system optimisation, adoption and service enhancements
- Expert knowledge of enterprise business systems (e.g. ERP, clinical and operational systems) and their role in enabling organisational performance at scale
- Strong understanding of service-led delivery models, including ITIL principles, service optimisation and continuous improvement at an organisational level
- Broad technical awareness across architecture, integration, data management, information governance and cybersecurity principles
- Demonstrated ability to align technology services and systems with strategic business objectives and operational priorities
- Strong commercial and supplier management capability, including contract oversight, performance management and value realisation, with strong financial awareness.
- Proven leadership capability with experience building, developing and leading high-performing, multidisciplinary teams
