Data Security Engineer
Remote
Long Term
Contract
Working knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud Platform) sufficient to engage with platform, infrastructure, and application teams, understand architectural requirements, and drive successful solution delivery.
Understanding of core cloud-native components and services, including:
Docker
Kubernetes
Database services
Streaming services
Batch processing frameworks
Ability to participate in cloud deployment discussions, operational troubleshooting, and cross-functional solution design efforts.
Familiarity with enterprise cloud ecosystems and common deployment, monitoring, and support practices.
Data Engineering
Analyze existing ETL/ELT workflows and develop enhancements or new solutions as required.
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for:
Batch processing
Real-time/streaming processing
Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and scalability.
Develop and maintain complex SQL queries and data transformations.
Application Development & Integration
Develop solutions using Python.
Design and implement API integrations using:
REST APIs
JSON payloads
XML payloads
Work with authentication and authorization mechanisms including:
OAuth
API Keys
Bearer Tokens
Utilize Postman for API testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
DevOps & CI/CD
Build and support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, GitLab, or similar source control and deployment tools.
Contribute to automation, deployment, monitoring, and release management processes.
Apply DevOps best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
Security & Access Management
Working knowledge of data security principles and best practices, with the ability to incorporate security considerations into data integration, application, and platform solutions.
Understanding of key data protection concepts, including:
Encryption
Data masking
Data obfuscation
Secure data handling practices
Familiarity with enterprise security and compliance requirements related to protecting sensitive and regulated data.
Working understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts and access control models, including:
Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
Policy-Based Access Control (PBAC)
Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC)
Ability to collaborate with security, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure appropriate authentication, authorization, and access controls are incorporated into solution designs.
Understanding of security governance principles and the role of access management in securing enterprise applications and data platforms.
