Cisco Network Engineer

Looking for a local NJ-based, on-site network engineer to support a Cisco switch refresh project. This is a hands-on role (not just remote engineering). The high level is that we are replacing older switches for newer models. In addition to the CCNA level activities, the identified network closets (IDF's) will need to have cable management provided (proper length cables provided by Client organized wire management, proper length cables, etc).



Key requirements:

Rack/stack, cabling, and staging of Cisco switches

Build new configs based on existing environment (strong understanding of IOS/IOS-XE differences)

Connect to cores and validate port-channels, trunking, etc., with ability to troubleshoot issues

Perform access layer cable moves, labeling, and endpoint validation

Troubleshoot during migration (STP issues, speed/duplex mismatches, config errors, etc.)



Must have:

Strong Cisco IOS experience (Catalyst switching)

Proven experience with switch refresh/migration work

Willingness to do both hands-on physical work and technical troubleshooting
