Job Description

Legal Counsel (0-4 PQE) - Renewables - South West England (Hybrid)

Role: Legal Counsel (0-4 PQE)

Sector: Renewables & Utilities Infrastructure

PQE: 0–4 years

Location: South West England

Working pattern: 3 days per week on site (Tuesday–Thursday)

Role Overview

This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing renewables business operating at the heart of the UK’s transition to net zero. The organisation develops, owns, and operates critical infrastructure across renewables assets.

The legal team sits within a collaborative in-house function and works closely with property, construction, commercial, and operations teams. This role is ideal for someone looking to move from private practice into an in-house environment, or an in-house lawyer seeking broader exposure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the acquisition, development, and management of assets
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements (leases, licences, easements, wayleaves, options)
  • Advise on aspects of infrastructure and utility projects
  • Work closely with internal development teams
  • Support external counsel where required
  • Assist with due diligence on new sites and acquisitions
  • Provide pragmatic legal advice to a scaling business

Key Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) or equivalent
  • 0–4 years PQE (applications from more senior lawyers welcomed)
  • Background in real estate, property, utilities, energy, or infrastructure law
  • Experience or interest in renewables, EV charging, grid, DNO/IDNO, or utilities environments
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to work in a fast-moving in-house setting
