Maintenance Engineer
Leicester

We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Leicester. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer looking to join a busy maintenance team where you'll play a key role in keeping production equipment running safely and efficiently.
This Maintenance Engineer role will involve carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns and supporting continuous improvement projects across the site to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability.
This is a varied and hands-on Maintenance Engineer position suited to someone who enjoys fault finding, solving problems and working as part of a proactive engineering team.
Key responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer will include:
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across a range of production machinery and equipment • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency • Responding quickly to equipment breakdowns and completing repairs safely and effectively • Replacing and repairing mechanical components • Supporting installation, commissioning and improvement projects for new and existing equipment • Completing maintenance records accurately using the company's maintenance system • Working closely with production teams to identify recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions • Ensuring all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures and company standards • Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives to improve machine reliability and overall site performance
To be successful in this Maintenance Engineer role, you'll need:
• Previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer or in a similar maintenance position • A recognised engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent • A strong mechanical bias with experience maintaining manufacturing or production machinery • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills within a manufacturing or production environment • Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance on industrial machinery • Good knowledge of mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes and bearings • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation • A proactive approach with excellent organisation and time management skills • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team • Basic electrical fault-finding experience would be advantageous but is not essential
