On-Site IT Support Technician – Healthcare / Clinical Systems

Location: Stony Brook, NY
Work Type: 100% On-site
Duration: 10 Months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking an On-Site IT Support Technician to provide hands-on technical support within a hospital environment. The technician will support approximately 800 mobile clinical carts/workstations across multiple locations and will be responsible for hardware troubleshooting, repairs, PC imaging, peripheral installation, preventive maintenance, inventory management, and end-user technical support.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of hands-on IT support experience, preferably within a healthcare or hospital environment, with experience supporting Windows endpoints, mobile computing carts, peripherals, and clinical applications such as Cerner EMR.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain JACO, Capsa, and Ergotron mobile clinical carts / Workstations on Wheels (WOWs).

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software support tickets.

  • Configure and deploy HP and Lenovo PCs/endpoints.

  • Perform Windows 10 imaging, deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting.

  • Install and support monitors, barcode scanners, RFID readers, badge readers, keyboards, mice, and other peripherals.

  • Configure and troubleshoot wireless network connectivity.

  • Support HealthCast / Identity Automation Single Sign-On (SSO) environments.

  • Support endpoint security technologies including BitLocker and Absolute.

  • Perform operating-system imaging using Kase/KACE appliance.

  • Build and configure new clinical carts and replace batteries and defective components.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and maintain accurate equipment, cart-location, and spare-parts inventories.

  • Coordinate warranty repairs and replacement parts with equipment manufacturers.

  • Work directly with hospital clinical and technical teams to resolve equipment issues.

  • Participate in technical and patient-safety meetings when required.

  • Maintain documentation and provide status updates on assigned technical work.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Technical Support, Desktop Support, PC Technician, or Field Support experience.

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing PCs and peripheral hardware.

  • Experience with Windows 10 installation, imaging, configuration, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience supporting HP and/or Lenovo endpoints.

  • Experience with wireless connectivity and endpoint troubleshooting.

  • Experience with Cerner EMR.

  • Experience installing, configuring, and testing IT equipment.

  • Strong troubleshooting, customer-service, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently in an onsite hospital environment.

Highly Preferred

  • Previous hospital or healthcare IT support experience.

  • Hands-on experience with JACO and/or Capsa Workstations on Wheels (WOWs).

  • Experience with Ergotron carts.

  • Experience with HealthCast / Identity Automation SSO.

  • Experience with BitLocker, Absolute, and Kase/KACE imaging.

  • CompTIA A+ or other relevant hardware/desktop-support certification.

  • Manufacturer/equipment-specific certifications applicable to supported equipment.

Physical & On-Site Requirements

  • Must be available to work 100% onsite in Stony Brook, NY.

  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to kneel, squat, work underneath desks/workstations, and climb a ladder when required.

  • Must have appropriate tools necessary to perform assigned technical work.

  • Must meet applicable hospital immunization and vendor credentialing requirements.

Ideal Candidate

A 2–5 year IT support professional with strong hands-on desktop/hardware troubleshooting experience who has previously worked in a hospital or healthcare environment. Candidates with direct Cerner + JACO/Capsa WOW/cart support experience will be strongly preferred.
