Experience Levels:
- 3-5 Years / 5-8 Years / 8+ Years
- Note: The role requires 2-5 years of experience in data center operations, structured cabling, fiber optic installation/testing, or telecom/network infrastructure support. Experience deploying 50+ racks is preferred.
Ideal Candidate Profile: Experience in one of the following roles:
- Data Center / Fiber Optic / Structured Cabling Technician
- Telecom / Network Deployment / Network Infrastructure Technician
Core Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience in fiber optics, structured cabling (including Cat6A), rack and stack, testing, and break-fix support.
- Proficiency with testing tools (OTDR, power meters, cable testers) and physical network troubleshooting (Layer 1).
- Experience using ticketing systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Installation & Deployment: Install server racks and network equipment; connect switches; manage, label, and route fiber optic and copper cabling; support rack moves, upgrades, and decommissioning.
- Network Testing: Test newly installed fiber and network circuits using OTDR and power meters to verify quality and signal strength.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose connectivity issues, replace faulty hardware (cables, optics, switches), and respond to critical outages.
- Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance, clean fiber optic connectors, inspect routing, and support new build-outs.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow data center safety procedures, use required PPE/ESD protection, and adhere to lockout/tagout protocols.
- Collaboration: Work with engineering, facility, and supply chain teams; maintain ticket updates and provide clear shift handovers.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with liquid-cooled data center racks, barcode scanning, asset tracking, and large hyperscale data centers.
- BICSI Installer or Technician certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly, stand/walk for extended periods, work on ladders/lifts, and handle small components in warm data center environmentsSkills
