SAP Fioneer FPSL Consultant – Banking

We are seeking an experienced SAP Fioneer FPSL Architect/Consultant with strong banking finance and accounting implementation experience to support an SAP Fioneer Financial Products Subledger (FPSL) implementation.

The consultant will be responsible for hands-on functional configuration, detailed design support, integration, testing, reconciliation, defect resolution, and deployment activities for banking products. The role will focus on event-based accounting, accurate subledger postings, source-system integration, and integration with SAP S/4HANA Finance, ensuring alignment with IFRS 9 and local GAAP requirements.

The consultant will act as a functional execution specialist, translating approved finance and accounting designs into FPSL configuration while supporting testing, reconciliation, go-live, and hypercare activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. FPSL Functional Configuration – Banking

• Configure SAP Fioneer FPSL objects for banking products, including:
• Loans and advances
• Deposits
• Money market instruments
• Securities and bonds, where applicable
• Configure and implement FPSL components, including:
• Contract types and contract attributes
• Event types and event processing
• Posting schemas
• Accounting determinations
• Support the setup and configuration of:
• Valuation areas
• Subledger accounting layers
• Accounting principles and ledgers

2. Accounting & IFRS 9

• Implement FPSL accounting logic aligned with:
• IFRS 9 classification – AC, FVOCI, and FVTPL
• Effective Interest Rate (EIR) calculations and accruals
• Fee and charge treatment
• Support accounting postings related to:
• Initial recognition
• Accruals and amortization
• Derecognition events
• Work with the Finance Lead / Solution Architect to validate:
• Accounting outcomes
• Posting results at contract level
• Posting results at GL level
• Accounting consistency across business scenarios

3. Integration – Source Systems & SAP S/4HANA

• Support inbound integration from:
• Core banking systems
• Treasury platforms
• Trading platforms
• Validate event payloads and transaction data.
• Support attribute mapping, enrichment, and transformation activities.
• Support outbound integration to the SAP S/4HANA Universal Journal.
• Validate:
• Document splitting
• GL account derivation
• Posting completeness
• Posting consistency
• Source-to-subledger data integrity

4. Testing, Reconciliation & Defect Resolution

• Execute and support:
• Unit Testing (UT)
• System Integration Testing (SIT)
• User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Develop and execute functional test scenarios and test scripts.
• Perform reconciliations between:
• Source systems and FPSL
• FPSL subledger and SAP General Ledger
• Analyze and resolve:
• Posting errors
• Accounting mismatches
• Integration defects
• Data and configuration issues
• Support parallel-run activities and reconciliation with legacy subledger systems.
• Assist with defect triage and resolution throughout the implementation lifecycle.

5. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

• Prepare and maintain functional deliverables, including:
• FPSL configuration documents
• Functional specifications
• Test scripts and test evidence
• Data and attribute mapping documents
• Reconciliation documents
• Process and accounting documentation
• Support knowledge transfer to client and business teams.
• Assist with go-live preparation, cutover activities, and post-go-live hypercare.

Required Skills & Experience

Mandatory Qualifications

• 4–8 years of experience in banking finance, accounting systems, or financial systems implementations.
• Hands-on experience with SAP Fioneer FPSL, preferably within a banking environment.
• Practical experience integrating SAP Fioneer FPSL with SAP S/4HANA Finance.
• Strong understanding of:
• Banking products and accounting
• Event-based accounting
• Transaction-based accounting
• Subledger accounting concepts
• Good working knowledge of IFRS 9, particularly from an implementation perspective.
• Experience with FPSL configuration and functional implementation activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience integrating FPSL with core banking systems.
• Experience working with high-volume transaction processing environments.
• Experience with financial reconciliation and month-end / period-end close processes.
• Exposure to other SAP Fioneer solutions.
• Experience working on large-scale SAP transformation programs.
• Experience with regulatory, compliance, or audit-driven finance transformation initiatives.
• Knowledge of local GAAP requirements in addition to IFRS 9.
• Experience supporting production deployments, go-live, and hypercare.
