Plant Process Engineer
Lhoist are a successful, international Belgian company that has several sites in the UK. As a manufacturer of high-quality lime and dolomitic lime products we deliver to a widening worldwide market.
We have an opportunity for a Plant Process Engineer to join our Production team at Hindlow. Reporting to the Operations/Production Manager, you will be responsible for improving plant performance, efficiency, reliability and operational standards through data-driven analysis, process optimisation and continuous improvement. Working closely with production, maintenance and technical teams, you will identify and deliver sustainable improvements, develop key performance measures and support the implementation of best practices across the site. The role also includes participation in the Duty Manager rota and providing operational support when required.
Key Responsibilities
(Other duties may be assigned.)
Maintain and continuously improve Health & Safety, Environmental and Integrated Management Systems within production and loading operations.
Own and develop departmental KPIs, analysing plant performance and driving improvements through data-led decision making.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, throughput, energy efficiency, cost and plant reliability.
Identify and implement process optimisation opportunities to improve plant stability and operational performance.
Act as a technical expert, providing guidance on process optimisation, automation and problem-solving.
Develop, review and embed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and promote consistent ways of working.
Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to improve reliability, reduce downtime and support root cause analysis activities.
Support development of operational teams through structured coaching, training and knowledge transfer
Lead improvement projects from concept through to implementation, ensuring delivery of measurable benefits.
Participate in the Duty Manager rota and provide operational support when required.
Support weekend and off-hours operations as required.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's Degree (BEng) or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
Ability to influence without authority and work effectively across multiple functions.
Systems thinking with a focus on process, maintenance and operations.
Experience of driving continuous improvement and delivering measurable outcomes.
A coaching mindset with a focus on supporting continuous improvement and capability development.
Strong planning, organisational and project management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other industry software.
Commitment to safety, quality and operational excellence.
