- Salary: $111,401 to $117,924 plus Superannuation
The City Planning branch, within the Planning, Regulation and Services Gold Coast directorate, plays a vital role in shaping the future of the Gold Coast. We are responsible for long-term planning and policy development that supports sustainable growth while protecting our city's natural environment, heritage, and unique lifestyle.
Within this branch, the Strategic Infrastructure team coordinates the planning and funding of the city's trunk infrastructure and leads the Local Government Infrastructure Program (LGIP) process in partnership with network owners and key stakeholders.

We are seeking an Infrastructure Planning Analyst Lead to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the City's Planning and Urban Growth (PUG) model. In this position, you will apply your expertise in GIS, spatial analysis, urban analytics, and infrastructure planning to support next-generation modelling that guides land use and infrastructure outcomes across the Gold Coast.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of professionals specialising in planning, policy, research, and analytics. You will contribute to innovative projects, strategic thinking, and data-driven solutions that support the city's long-term growth and financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Planning and Urban Growth (PUG) modelling tool.
- Maintain and continuously improve network Plans for Trunk Infrastructure (PFTI) and Schedule of Works (SOW) GIS databases.
- Deliver specialist spatial analysis, services, and technical advice to support land use and infrastructure planning.
- Manage Strategic Infrastructure spatial datasets that support the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) and related modelling tools.
- Collaborate with internal and external LGIP stakeholders on network modelling, data standards, methodologies, and technical requirements.
We are looking for someone who brings a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a collaborative approach.
You will ideally have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning, or equivalent qualifications and experience.
- Experience in infrastructure or land use planning within the development industry, local government, or state government.
- Strong GIS, spatial analysis, and urban analytics capabilities.
- The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and build strong stakeholder relationships.
- Well-developed problem solving skills, including the ability to analyse information, think laterally, and identify practical solutions.
- A passion for innovation and continuous improvement through the use of technology and data-driven insights.
- A demonstrated commitment to safety in both professional and personal settings.
