Job Description
Our client is a leading independent macroeconomic research firm seeking to hire a US Economist to join its highly regarded London-based team.
Working closely with senior economists, you will play a key role in analysing the US economy, producing economic forecasts and contributing to research that is relied upon by institutional investors, financial markets and policymakers. Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality macroeconomic research focused on the US economy.
- Develop forecasts for key economic variables including GDP, inflation, employment, consumer spending, monetary policy and fiscal policy.
- Build and maintain macroeconomic and econometric models to support forecasting and policy analysis.
- Analyse US economic data, Federal Reserve communications and political developments, identifying their implications for the economy and financial markets.
- Contribute to written research publications, client presentations and regular market commentary.
- Support senior economists with bespoke client requests and thematic research projects.
- Work closely with colleagues covering other major economies, contributing to broader global macroeconomic research where appropriate.
Requirements
- 3–8 years' experience as an economist covering the US economy.
- Experience gained within an investment bank, independent research provider, asset manager, consultancy, central bank or other recognised economic institution.
- Strong understanding of US macroeconomics, Federal Reserve policy and the key drivers of the US economy.
- Excellent quantitative, analytical and forecasting skills, including experience using econometric techniques.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex economic issues clearly.
- Master's degree or PhD in Economics or a related discipline.
