Job Description

Multicom is on a mission to bring high purity critical minerals to the world and become a reliable supplier for global technology manufacturers. Currently, Multicom is progressing the permitting, approval, and development of its 100% owned Saint Elmo Project, situated 25 km east of Julia Creek in Queensland's Northwest Minerals Province, focused on advancing the production of critical assets like vanadium and high purity alumina (HPA).

About the role

As a Metallurgical Technician at Scidell, you will be a key member of the production and operations team responsible for monitoring and improving metallurgical performance targets for the Saint Elmo refinery and mine facility. Working under the direct supervision of the Process Supervisor, you will test materials, operate equipment, and optimize processes to ensure safe, efficient plant operations.

  • Process Optimization & Monitoring: Monitor various stages of the production process to ensure smooth operations. Check and adjust parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rates, and chemical concentrations to maximize plant throughput, Vanadium/HPA recovery, and quality costs.
  • Metallurgical Testing & Surveys: Undertake surveys, coordinate sampling activities, and execute test work to evaluate and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Equipment Operations: Start up, shut down, adjust, and operate plant machinery and equipment safely in strict accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Equipment & Lab Performance: Monitor key equipment across both the process plant and the onsite laboratory to ensure components are optimized and alternative operational methods are assessed.
  • Quality Control & Data Review: Conduct regular routine inspections and quality control checks on products and materials. Review operating and technical data to identify instances of noncompliance or opportunities for process optimization.
  • Metallurgical Reporting: Maintain accurate records of equipment operations, process parameters, production, and testing activities. Generate precise metallurgical reconciliations and complete timely daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Identify and troubleshoot basic equipment issues, malfunctions, or process deviations. Provide expert technical support to operations, laboratory teams, and the senior process engineering team, collaborating closely on complex issues.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to the Site Safety and Health Management System and all established SOPs, ensuring all safety hazards or incidents are reported promptly.
