Job Description
THE COMPANY YOU WOULD BE JOINING
- This company is Australia's leading telehealth service. Their network of Australian qualified physicians serves regional and metropolitan hospitals, residential aged care facilities, ambulance services, primary health networks, and private organisations nationwide, with over 450,000 consultations delivered to date.
- The business is undergoing a deliberate strategic evolution: from an on demand emergency response provider to an embedded clinical stability partner supporting health providers across the full continuum of care. This means deliberately broadening beyond their strong foundation, reducing over reliance on a single clinical service line and building a genuinely integrated virtual health offering that meets patients, clinicians, and health systems at every stage of the care journey.
- This Head of Technology & Data position, reporting to the CEO, is being hired not only to lead a team to run what exists, but to build and develop new capability. The mandate is to architect a data and technology capability that compounds over time: one that makes the organisation's clinical and commercial value visible and demonstrable, that scales with the business as it grows, and that positions the organisation to compete on intelligence as well as service.
- The current environment is honest and well understood: a functional but patchwork integration layer, data quality constraints that limit operational and commercial insight, and workflows that have grown faster than the systems supporting them. The incoming leader will inherit that reality transparently and will be expected to design and build the architecture that replaces it. This is the infrastructure on which their clinical delivery runs, the mechanism by which commercial value is demonstrated, and the platform on which the next phase of growth will be built. This is a role with genuine board level visibility.
- Building the data platform - designing and delivering the data infrastructure, integration architecture, and reporting capability that transforms raw operational data into clinical and commercial intelligence that the business can act on and demonstrate to clients.
- Leading the team owning the technology environment - adopting a leadership role to ensure the platforms that underpin clinical delivery and contact centre operations are stable, secure, and fit for purpose, while actively evolving the architecture toward a more scalable and integrated future state.
- Enabling the growth agenda - partnering with commercial and operations leadership to automate workflows, reduce manual dependency, and build a technology and AI roadmap that supports the business across the next three to five years.

- Strategy, Roadmap & Board Engagement
- Demonstrated experience building data infrastructure in an operationally complex, regulated environment - designing architecture, resolving integration challenges, and delivering platforms that turn raw operational data into reliable, actionable intelligence.
- Background in product and platform thinking - you have designed and built scalable data or technology systems, not just managed existing ones.
- Proven ability to translate data and technology strategy into executable roadmaps with measurable business outcomes.
- Experience in health tech, digital health, or a similarly data intensive, regulated industry - understanding the compliance context and the clinical sensitivity of operational data.
- Able to communicate architectural decisions and platform strategy clearly to non technical executives and board members, including those with deep technology expertise.
- Comfortable operating as a hands on technical leader in a lean team - you are able to contribute directly to architectural design while leading others.
- Experience with integration architecture across disparate clinical or operational systems - API design, ETL pipelines, data warehousing, or similar.
- Familiarity with contact centre technology platforms (Twilio or equivalent) and clinical information systems (MediRecords, EPIC, or similar).
- Background in workflow automation and process re engineering in an operationally intensive environment.
- Practical experience evaluating and deploying AI or ML tools in an enterprise or operational context.
- Experience working within or alongside Australian state or federal health data frameworks (Privacy Act, My Health Records Act).
- Experience in a scale up or growth stage business where the technology function was being built, not just maintained.
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional certifications (data management, cloud architecture, cybersecurity, or similar) are advantageous but not required where experience is strong.
- Candidates who are energised by a clear starting point and a defined build mandate are the right candidates for this role.
