Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join a high performing team delivering secure cloud infrastructure solutions within a national security environment. This hands on role focuses on designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise grade cloud environments while ensuring compliance with Australian Government security frameworks and best practices. Working closely with architects, security specialists, developers, and business stakeholders, you will modernise cloud platforms, implement security controls, and drive automation initiatives across complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable cloud infrastructure solutions aligned to business and technical requirements.
• Deploy, manage, and maintain enterprise grade cloud environments, including networking, compute, storage, and cloud native services.
• Optimise cloud environments for security, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Implement and manage cloud security controls aligned with the PSPF, ISM, Essential Eight, and organisational security requirements.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and security teams to embed security throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Deploy and support Cloud Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solutions.
• Design and deliver proof of concept environments to evaluate emerging cloud and security technologies.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to automate cloud deployments and operational activities.
• Build automation and orchestration solutions to improve operational efficiency and security outcomes.
• Integrate infrastructure deployments and security controls into CI/CD pipelines.
• Liaise with cloud vendors and stakeholders to validate technical designs and solution architectures.
• Support production environments and contribute to continuous platform improvement initiatives.

What You'll Need

• Demonstrated experience deploying and supporting enterprise scale cloud infrastructure solutions end to end.
• Strong experience configuring and managing cloud networking, including VPCs, routing, connectivity, and security controls.
• Experience managing cloud compute, storage, and cloud native services.
• Extensive experience implementing cloud security controls aligned with the ISM and Essential Eight.
• Proven ability to translate business and technical requirements into scalable cloud solution designs.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or similar.
• Experience developing automation and orchestration scripts using technologies such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar.
• Experience integrating infrastructure automation and security controls into CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps practices and cloud native security capabilities.
• Experience with CNAPP, SASE, or modern cloud security platforms is highly desirable.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem solving skills.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
