Lead ROR Engineer

Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Ruby on Rails Engineer with 11+ years of software development experience and strong expertise in building scalable, secure, and high-performing healthcare applications.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Ruby on Rails development, cloud-native architectures, API integrations, healthcare interoperability standards, and leadership of distributed engineering teams.
This role will be responsible for driving technical architecture, mentoring engineers, delivering healthcare solutions, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership Lead the design, architecture, development, and deployment of enterprise healthcare applications using Ruby on Rails. Define technical roadmaps, engineering standards, and best practices.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.
Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and security practices.
Drive application modernization and performance optimization initiatives.
Application Development Design and develop scalable web applications and APIs using Ruby on Rails. Build secure, maintainable, and high-performing backend services. Develop RESTful APIs and microservices for healthcare applications. Integrate frontend applications with backend services. Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.
Healthcare Domain Expertise Develop and support solutions across healthcare business functions including: Prior Authorization Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) Specialty Pharmacy Claims Processing Care Management Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Patient Engagement Population Health Collaborate with healthcare SMEs to design compliant and efficient solutions.
Ensure applications meet HIPAA, HITECH, and healthcare security requirements.
Integration & Interoperability Develop integrations with: EHR/EMR Systems Healthcare Data Platforms Salesforce Health Cloud Third-Party Vendor Systems Pharmacy and Claims Platforms Implement healthcare interoperability standards including: HL7 FHIR REST APIs Secure Healthcare Data Exchange Cloud & DevOps Lead cloud-native application deployments on Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform. Partner with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines.
Work with containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes. Ensure high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery readiness.
Team Leadership & Delivery Lead Agile development teams and participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release management.
Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, QA teams, and Business Analysts. Support hiring, onboarding, and technical evaluation of engineering talent.
Drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor''s or master''s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
11+ years of software engineering experience.
5+ years of experience in Ruby on Rails development.
3+ years of experience leading engineering teams and technical initiatives.
Strong healthcare domain experience in payer, provider, PBM, specialty pharmacy, or life sciences environments. Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale healthcare applications.
