Job Title: Application Engineer

Location: Remote/ WFH

Key Responsibilities:

• The current team needs contributors who operate as role makers, not only role takers.
• The common gaps documented are around initiative, ownership, communication, proactive problem-solving, and follow-through.
• The Application Engineer role requires technical ownership, initiative, probing questions, participation in technical discussions, risk/dependency identification, and independent delivery of assigned work.
• Observed Capability Gaps with Damilola and Sahil

 

Documented Concern Area:

Limited initiative, limited confidence/authority to speak up, and not asking probing questions while working through assigned work.

Role-Based Impact:

Creates delivery risk because the team needs an engineer who owns technical work, raises questions early, identifies blockers/dependencies, and contributes to design and implementation discussions.

 

Required Skill Set:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, optimize, and maintain application solutions aligned to business requirements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and technical team members to understand requirements, propose solutions, and complete work on time.
• Write clean, scalable, maintainable code that follows organizational standards and engineering best practices.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve application functionality, performance, defect, and incident issues.
• Actively contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies and artifacts, including backlog items, Definition of Ready/Done, PI planning, and sprint execution.
• Identify technical risks, issues, dependencies, and technical enablers; escalate early and recommend mitigation options.
• Ask probing questions, speak up during technical discussions, clarify ambiguity, and communicate progress/blockers clearly.
• For senior roles, lead design discussions, support estimation, mentor junior engineers, contribute to architecture, and own end-to-end delivery.
• 5-7 years of application/software development engineering experience; advanced development practices, scalable solutions, complex troubleshooting, testing, mentoring, and process contribution.
• 7-10 years of application/software development engineering experience; SME-level expertise, complex solution delivery, stakeholder communication, mentoring, cross-functional collaboration, and scalable architecture.
• Application/software development engineering experience; broad expertise, complex problem solving, technical leadership, mentoring, policy/process contribution, and recognized functional expertise.
