Job Description

• Excellent understanding of System z architecture
• Experience with z/OS version upgrades (advantage if 3.2 or above)
• JES2/JES3 migration experience
• Building Mainframe LPAR and OS Upgrades
• Knowledge of Catalog management, IBM system utilities
• Knowledge of VTAM, TCPIP, ACF2, GDPS
• Installation of patches and fixes
• Installation/maintenance of ISV products, REXX, RMF, SMF
• Customization of z/OS and related IBM/ISV software
• Performance tuning using monitoring tools (e.g., z/OS Performance Monitor)
• DIRMAINT administration - RACF/Top secret/ACF2 administration
• REXX knowledge - SSI knowledge
• Support for network configuration and maintenance (TCP/IP stack, VSWITCH, TCPIP tools in z/OS)
• z/Linux system cloning and configuration (memory, file system allocation)
• System parameters/parmlib maintenance
• Incident management on z/OS issues
• z/OS performance monitoring and reporting
• Disaster recovery planning and support
• Development of operational procedures
• Proactive management of system problems (logs, dumps, errors)
• Collaboration with Developers to fix issues
• Coordination with Vendors for upgrades
• Planning, installation, customization of z/Linux and guest OS
• Dump and restore of system data
• PTF maintenance for ISV products
• Access management - onboarding and provisioning

Key Responsibilities

• Incident/Problem Management: analysis and resolution
• Support maintenance releases and major OS upgrades
• Process client requests for system software modifications
• Review system indicators for proactive management
• Work with operations to monitor, maintain, and IPL systems
• Monitor/Tune system performance with engineering and capacity teams
• Ensure availability/performance objectives for OS and system software
• Implement automation tools/processes for repeated tasks
• Manage license codes for infrastructure software
• Disaster recovery planning and support
• Performance tuning & operational procedure development
• Implement changes to support operations and other towers
• Collaborate with IBM and ISVs regularly
