Job Title: Senior Software Engineer – Robotics & Enabling Technology
Location: Remote (EST only)
Job type: Contract
Position Summary
The Senior Software Engineer will develop foundational software components for Robotics and Enabling Technology applications. The scope of work includes research, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of software components within clinical application architectures. These software components may be shared across multiple applications or tailored specifically for Total Hip and Total Knee surgery applications.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development
- Develop source code for shared biomechanics and planning components that integrate into established architectures of pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative clinical applications.
- Design, develop, test, debug, and implement operating system components, software tools, and utilities.
- Determine systems software design requirements and contribute to software architecture discussions.
- Ensure software components are feature-complete and meet defined requirements and design specifications.
SDLC & Quality Assurance
- Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including:
- Code reviews
- Documentation
- Integration
- Testing
- Defect management
- Code analysis
- Ensure system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to enhance efficiency.
- Follow established engineering standards, policies, and procedures.
Collaboration & Technical Contribution
- Work independently with minimal supervision while applying sound engineering judgment.
- Contribute technical expertise to the development of clinical software applications.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to software quality, performance, and maintainability.
Required Qualifications
- Solid background working with C++ and Qt in a Linux environment.
- Experience working with 3D geometry and image processing algorithms involving complex 3D calculations.
- Experience developing surgical planning systems is highly desired.
- Proficiency with integrated development environments (IDEs) and build systems.
- Experience working with revision control systems and following CI/CD development practices.
- Familiarity with unit testing as part of the software development workflow.

- Strong understanding and application of software engineering principles, procedures, and concepts.
- Ability to analyze factual information and make evaluative judgments with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 2+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
- Experience in medical device, robotics, surgical navigation, or healthcare technology environments is preferred.
