Job Description

Job Title: Data Center Cabling Technician

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Step into the core of next-generation computing infrastructure. We are seeking a Data Center Cabling Infrastructure Technician to support operations on-site at high-density data center facility.

In this role, you will own the physical layer (Layer 1) layout, installation, termination, and auditing of massive copper and Fiber networks. You will ensure maximum uptime and architectural integrity for enterprise server clusters, automated testing topologies, and mission-critical cloud compute halls.

Core Responsibilities

  • High-Density Deployment: Install, route, and perfectly dress multi-Fiber MPO/MTP arrays, single-mode/multi-mode Fiber, and Cat6A copper trunks within underfloor trays, overhead baskets, and server racks.
  • Rack & Stack Integration: Support lifecycle rack migrations by executing complex patch-panel routing, building intra-rack patch topologies, and managing cable management arms (CMAs).
  • Precision Termination & Splicing: Execute high-precision Fiber optic fusion splicing and copper terminations inside high-density patch enclosures and Main Distribution Areas (MDAs).
  • Advanced Diagnostics: Use enterprise equipment like Fluke DSX-8000 analyzers, Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDR), and optical power meters to test, certify, and troubleshoot physical connectivity issues.
  • DCIM Tracking & Documentation: Maintain highly precise Fiber/port labeling based on ANSI/TIA-606-C standards and update site Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools to ensure perfect asset visibility.
  • Aisle Containment Optimization: Maintain strict data center hygiene standards, ensuring cable paths do not obstruct airflow patterns inside hot/cold aisle containment setups.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years of dedicated technical experience exclusively inside enterprise-grade Data Centers or Hyperscale environments.
  • Blueprint Literacy: Mastery in reading, interpreting, and redlining network topology layouts, matrix port maps, and rack elevation charts.
  • Industry Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of BICSI 002 (Data Center Design & Implementation) guidelines and TIA-942 infrastructure standards.
  • Physical Logistics: Safely lift network switches, servers, and heavy bulk wire spools up to 50 lbs; comfortable working on ladders, grid ceilings, and containment cages.
