KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Core Responsibilities:
- Document development and maintenance
- Collaboration and communication:
- Collaborate with SMEs and team members to gather information for documentation, translating technical information into user-friendly content for diverse audiences
- Support document coordination including scheduling, tracking feedback, and version control
- Travel: Up to 10% (support to NSWC Crane, industry teammates, and program reviews)
- Quality assurance: Edit and proofread program-specific documents for clarity, consistency, grammar, and technical accuracy
- Technical skills and professional attributes:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to write clear, concise, and persuasive content
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members at all levels of the organization
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information per government standards
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education
- Required: Bachelor's degree in English, communications, technical writing, or a related discipline; equivalent experience considered
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in engineering plus a degree in English, journalism, or technical writing, or certification in technical writing.
Experience and Clearance:
- US citizenship required
- Active Department of War (DoW) Secret clearance (or ability to obtain)
- 5-10 years of experience in technical writing or proposal writing
- Familiarity with MIL-STD documentation standards and DoW technical publication practices
