Job Description

Lister IT Services Ltd, part of Lister Unified Communications Ltd, is a growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) supporting small and medium-sized businesses across Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas.

We are seeking either a graduate looking to start their IT career or an experienced Technical Support & Cyber Security Engineer to join our team.

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for delivering exceptional technical support to our clients while assisting senior engineers with project delivery and cyber security initiatives. You will play a key role in resolving technical issues, maintaining and improving IT systems, and contributing to ongoing service improvements that enhance the client experience.

As an MSP, no two days are the same. You will work with a variety of technologies and gain exposure to a diverse client base across multiple industries.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing telephone and remote support as the first point of contact for clients experiencing technical issues.
  • Troubleshooting hardware, software, Microsoft 365, network, and security-related problems.
  • Escalating complex technical issues to senior engineers when required.
  • Delivering onsite support, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Setting up user accounts, devices, software, and cloud services.
  • Assisting clients with a wide range of day-to-day IT requirements.
  • Supporting Senior Engineers (L2/L3) with project delivery, system upgrades, and client technology roadmaps.
  • Maintaining accurate ticket updates and time entries within Halo/NHD.
  • Completing proactive maintenance activities such as:
    • Firmware and software updates
    • Infrastructure health checks
    • Cyber security improvements
    • Documentation updates
    • Process development and automation
  • Assisting with the implementation and support of cybersecurity solutions and best practices.

  • Microsoft Defender and Security Centre
  • Microsoft Purview
  • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory)
  • Microsoft Endpoint Manager / Intune
  • Microsoft 365 migrations and implementations
Infrastructure & Networking
  • Windows 11 deployment and support
  • Windows Server administration and support
  • Active Directory administration
  • IPv4 networking
  • VPN setup and troubleshooting
  • Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM) platforms
  • Managed switches
  • UniFi wireless networking solutions
  • AWS cloud technologies
Support & Customer Service
  • MSP or customer-focused IT support experience
  • Helpdesk support experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence communicating with clients via telephone, video calls, email, and face-to-face meetings
Cyber Security & Compliance
  • Knowledge of GDPR and ISO 27001
  • Understanding of cyber security principles and best practices
  • Experience with vulnerability management and security monitoring is beneficial
Qualifications (Desirable)
  • MD-102: Endpoint Administrator Associate
  • SC-200: Microsoft Security Operations Analyst
  • Other Microsoft, cybersecurity, networking, or cloud certifications
Working Hours

37.5 hours per week
Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm
(1-hour lunch break)

Location

Due to the nature of the role, this is an office-based position.
