The Role

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join a high-performing Networks Data & Analytics team.

This is a hands-on role focused on building, supporting, and evolving a large-scale cloud-native data platform hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will play a key role in designing platform capabilities, building CI/CD pipelines from the ground up, implementing Infrastructure as Code, improving observability, and ensuring platform security and reliability across enterprise-scale environments.

The ideal candidate will bring strong platform engineering experience, a passion for automation, and a proven track record of building reusable frameworks, tooling, and cloud-native solutions from scratch.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build CI/CD pipelines from scratch, including webhook triggers, branch protection, approval gates, rollback mechanisms, and multi-environment promotion processes.
• Develop reusable platform frameworks, shared tooling, templates, and engineering components used across multiple teams.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform.
• Design and deliver metadata-driven ingestion frameworks and modular platform capabilities.
• Support large-scale cloud-native data platforms running on Google Cloud Platform.
• Drive observability initiatives through monitoring, alerting, dashboards, pipeline health checks, and platform reporting using Dynatrace and related tools.
• Support onboarding of new teams and workloads, including IAM provisioning, security scanning, connectivity requests, and access management.
• Implement and maintain platform security controls, ensuring compliance with enterprise standards and vulnerability management requirements.
• Manage security tooling and controls including MFA, encryption, PAM/PIAM, vulnerability scanning, and platform governance processes.
• Support network connectivity requirements including firewall rules, routing, SFTP integrations, proxy configurations, and cross-platform communication.
• Troubleshoot platform, infrastructure, and deployment issues while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to platform standardisation, automation, operational excellence, and engineering best practices.
• Support event-driven and streaming architectures across enterprise data platforms.

What You'll Need

• Experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or a similar role.
• Proven experience designing and building CI/CD pipelines from scratch using GitLab CI, Cloud Build, Jenkins, or similar technologies.
• Demonstrated experience developing reusable platform frameworks, templates, shared tooling, and engineering accelerators.
• Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud platforms within Google Cloud Platform environments.
• Strong experience with GCP services including:
• Cloud Composer (Airflow)
• BigQuery
• Pub/Sub
• Cloud Run and Cloud Functions
• Artifact Registry
• Secret Manager
• Experience implementing platform observability solutions using Dynatrace or similar monitoring platforms.
• Experience supporting platform onboarding activities including IAM, access provisioning, security scanning, and connectivity requirements.
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles, vulnerability management, access controls, encryption, and governance frameworks.
• Knowledge of networking concepts including firewall rules, proxy configurations, routing, and secure data transfer mechanisms.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with Kafka, Confluent Kafka, or other event-streaming platforms.
• Knowledge of SFTP integrations and enterprise connectivity solutions.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerised environments.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale data and analytics platforms.
• Familiarity with release management, environment promotion processes, and platform governance frameworks.
• Experience working within large-scale cloud transformation and modernisation programs.
