WOME Safety Consultant

Salary range: £50,000 per annum - £65,000 depending on skills and experience. 

Location: Remote / Hybrid - Full or part Time

Job Description

Occam Group continue to develop a resilient Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions and Explosives (WOME) offering and are looking to add further capability to our team.

We are keen to hear from individuals who demonstrate a strong combination of Defence understanding (pan domain), Weapons Ordnance, Munitions and Explosives (WOME) engineering competence, and safety and assurance expertise.

Day to day, you will work with clients providing high quality specialist consultancy services. You will use your engineering knowledge and experience to deliver critical support to defence programmes, with a focus on operation , through-life support and assurance of complex systems.

Duties to include 

• Author, review of safety management plans and safety cases, technical reports, and engineering documentation. 
• Undertaking detailed hazard and risk analyses.
• Deriving, and demonstrating compliance with safety requirements. 
• Setting and or support to WOME integration activities across the air, maritime and land domains 
• Setting and support to the implementation of safety strategies for complex and novel WOME systems. 
• Setting and support to WOME certification and qualification strategies and programmes. 

Essential Requirements 

• Educated to degree level (or equivalent) preferably in a related technical discipline.
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Defence WOME including safety assurance. 
• Knowledge of the legislative and regulatory requirements applied within the Defence and to WOME. 
• Excellent communication skills. 
• Customer focused and able to  develop strong relationships and understand problems. 
• Experience of working in teams and develop others.

Desirable Requirements 

• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership. 
• Consultancy experience (desirable).
• SC and / or DV security clearance.
