Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Developer to design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, high-performance applications supporting US space systems initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in modern frontend frameworks, backend development, API engineering, cloud infrastructure, and database integration.

In this role, you will work closely with product leaders, data engineers, AI developers, project managers, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, data-driven applications. You will take ownership of features throughout the software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through development, deployment, and ongoing optimization.

This position is ideal for a hands-on senior engineer who can translate complex business and technical requirements into secure, maintainable solutions while contributing to architectural decisions and engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Application Architecture and Full Stack Development

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable full stack web applications using a three-tier architecture encompassing presentation, application services, and data layers.

• Translate business and technical requirements into maintainable application architectures with clear separation of concerns.

• Develop component-based frontend applications using modern frameworks such as React, Vue, or similar technologies.

• Build robust backend services and APIs using Python or comparable programming languages.

• Ensure applications meet production standards for security, performance, reliability, and maintainability.

API and Service Engineering

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs.

• Integrate applications with internal data platforms, data warehouses, and external services.

• Implement effective error handling, input validation, logging, monitoring, and observability.

• Manage API versioning, lifecycle, and backward compatibility.

Data Platform Integration

• Collaborate with data engineering teams to integrate applications with modern data warehouses and lakehouse environments.

• Consume curated datasets and expose data through secure application layers.

• Support real-time and batch data workflows based on business requirements.

• Maintain data accuracy, consistency, and appropriate access controls.

AI and Advanced Application Features

• Integrate AI- and large language model (LLM)-powered capabilities into user-facing applications where applicable.

• Collaborate with AI platform teams to operationalize models in production environments.

• Implement AI-enabled functionality responsibly, with appropriate security and data protection controls.

AWS Cloud and DevOps

• Deploy, operate, and maintain applications in Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.

• Use containerization technologies to improve application portability and scalability.

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment processes.

• Partner with infrastructure teams to improve system reliability, availability, and cost efficiency.

Performance, Security, and Scalability

• Monitor application performance and proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks.

• Optimize database queries, API performance, and frontend rendering.

• Design applications to accommodate growing data volumes and user demand.

• Implement authentication, authorization, and secure access controls.

• Follow secure coding practices, applicable data protection requirements, and vulnerability remediation procedures.

Collaboration and Technical Leadership

• Work with product leaders, project managers, data engineers, AI developers, and infrastructure teams to align technical solutions with delivery priorities.

• Participate in technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and peer code reviews.

• Communicate technical recommendations and clarify solution approaches with clients and stakeholders as needed.

• Identify improvements to architecture, developer workflows, and user experience.

• Own features end to end, from initial design through production deployment and support.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional full stack software development experience.

• Active security clearance required.

• Must be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).

• Top Secret clearance preferred.

• Strong frontend development experience with React, Vue, or comparable modern JavaScript frameworks.

• Strong backend development experience using Python or similar programming languages.

• Proven experience designing, developing, and consuming APIs in production environments.

• Experience deploying and supporting applications in AWS.

• Experience designing application data models and implementing database access layers using relational or NoSQL databases.

• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, secure technical solutions.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive improvements in architecture, development processes, and user experience.

• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and software engineering skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating AI, generative AI, or LLM capabilities into production applications.

• Experience developing applications on modern data warehouse or lakehouse platforms.

• Advanced AWS expertise, including architecture-level design and technology decisions.

• Experience working in data-intensive, analytics-driven environments.

• Familiarity with containerization, CI/CD automation, application observability, and cloud-native development practices.

• Experience building secure applications in environments with stringent security and compliance requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary: $135,000–$160,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
