job summary:

We are seeking a skilled Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Systems Administrator to support critical federal government infrastructure in Washington, DC. In this role, you will lead the deployment, maintenance, and patching of RHEL servers on VMware virtual platforms while driving operational efficiency through Ansible and Python/Bash automation. This full-time, on-site role provides essential systems support to ensure system stability, security, and peak performance across enterprise networks.

responsibilities:

Manage the full lifecycle of RHEL servers, including deployment, configuration, patching, and maintenance on VMware virtual platforms.

Utilize Red Hat Satellite to configure software repositories, manage content views, life cycle environments, and orchestrate enterprise patch management.

Develop, test, and maintain automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, and Python to streamline routine administrative tasks and reduce manual interventions.

Perform daily operations support, advanced system monitoring, performance tuning, and root cause analysis/problem isolation.

Collaborate with IT security teams to ensure endpoints are fully patched, hardened, and compliant with security standards.

Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base articles.

qualifications:

Active Public Trust security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

4 to 8 years of dedicated experience in RHEL system administration within enterprise environments.

Hands-on proficiency with Red Hat Satellite and Ansible configuration management.

Strong working knowledge of Bash and Python scripting for administrative automation.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Administration, or equivalent practical experience.

Ability to work 100% on-site in Washington, DC.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.

Experience automating STIG compliance and security hardening guidelines.

Prior experience working within Department of Justice (DOJ) or federal IT environments.
