Job Description: Crew Business SME

Location : Dallas, TX (Hybrid)

Type: Contract

 

Experience

8+ years in Airline Operations, including direct experience in an Airline Operations Control Center (OCC).

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Crew Scheduling Business SME with deep expertise in airline crew operations and scheduling. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience working as a Crew Scheduler within an Airline Operations Control Center (OCC) and possess extensive knowledge of crew planning, crew tracking, crew recovery, regulatory compliance, and day-of-operations management.

This role will serve as the SME for crew scheduling processes, operational workflows, technology modernization initiatives, system implementations, and business transformation programs related to airline crew operations.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Develop business requirements, use cases, process maps, and operational workflows.
  • Act as the business lead for crew scheduling system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
  • Work closely with product owners, developers, QA teams, and vendors to validate business requirements.
  • Participate in system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and production readiness activities.
  • Support crew management platforms and related integration points.
  • Document current-state and future-state crew scheduling processes.
  • Analyze operational challenges and recommend process improvements.
  • Support automation initiatives and digital transformation programs within crew operations.

Required Qualifications

Mandatory Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent airline industry experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of airline operations experience as a Crew Scheduler in an Airline Operations Control Center (OCC).
  • Strong understanding of crew scheduling, crew tracking, crew recovery, pairings and rostering, reserve management, fatigue risk management, crew qualifications and training, IROPs management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of airline operational workflows.
  • Understanding of FAA Part 117 and other applicable crew regulations.
  • Experience supporting both pilot and flight attendant scheduling processes.
  • Familiarity with union work rules and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience with one or more crew management platforms such as CAE Crew management, Merlot, Jeppesen, AIMS etc
