Job Description:

An SAP Payroll Functional Lead is a Senior technical and project leadership position responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining end-to-end payroll solutions in SAP (ECP or HCM). The role ensures compliance with U.S. payroll regulations, integrates payroll with related systems, and delivers scalable, high-quality payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Solution Design & Leadership: Lead and own the design of the payroll solution, aligning with strategic, operational, and compliance objectives.
• Requirement Gathering: Conduct and facilitate workshops with business stakeholders to define and document payroll needs.
• Configuration & Integration: Collaborate with payroll configurators to ensure accurate configuration; partner with integration leads to ensure seamless data flow between payroll and systems such as SAP FI, Time Management, Benefits, Compensation, and third-party vendors.
• Implementation Lifecycle Oversight: Manage all phases of the payroll implementation, including: Solution build and configuration, Parallel payroll runs, System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Cutover planning and execution, Post-go-live support
• Functional Expertise: Provide deep knowledge in: Gross-to-net calculations, Tax reporting and BSI, Tax Factory integration, Garnishments and levy management, Year-end processing and accrual setup, Wage type configuration, off-cycle payroll, and payroll catalogs
• Problem Solving: Troubleshoot payroll issues, apply support packs, and develop custom rules/operations as needed.
• Stakeholder Communication: Communicate updates, manage risks, and drive resolution strategies

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum 10+ years of hands-on SAP Payroll (ECP or HCM) experience, with a strong focus on U.S. Payroll.
• Leadership: Proven success in leading and delivering complex payroll implementations, including full lifecycle experience
• Technical Skills: Expertise in wage types, schemas, PCRs, and payroll integration points
• Soft Skills: Strong communication, stakeholder management, and ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment
• Compliance: Deep understanding of U.S. payroll compliance standards and tax regulations
