Civil Structural Senior Engineer

Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Structural Senior Engineer to join our team, delivering civil and structural engineering outputs primarily for water sector projects. Working both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will produce detailed analysis models, calculations, sketches, and reports. You will provide technical guidance, ensure adherence to processes and standards, and interface closely with construction operations to deliver projects on time and within budget. A key part of your role will be to challenge existing designs and deliver value engineering solutions while confidently communicating with clients to promote our in-house civil and structural design capabilities. You will also mentor and train junior engineers, supporting their professional development.

The role requires a degree-qualified Chartered or Incorporated Civil or Structural Engineer with strong UK project experience, particularly within the water sector, and a thorough understanding of current UK regulations, design codes, and health & safety requirements. Expertise in steelwork connection design or reinforced concrete detailing is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment are critical and non-negotiable for this position.

Skills

• Chartered or Incorporated Civil/Structural Engineer status
• Extensive UK water sector project experience
• Proficient in civil and structural analysis and design deliverables
• Strong steelwork connection design or reinforced concrete detailing expertise
• Knowledge of UK health & safety, environmental, and engineering regulations and design codes
• Ability to provide technical guidance and quality control
• Experience in value engineering and cost control
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills
• Proven ability to mentor and develop junior engineers
• Strong team collaboration and independent working capability

Software/Tools

• AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software
• Structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, TEDDS)
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms

Certifications & Standards

• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (ICE, IStructE or equivalent)
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
• Familiarity with British Standards and Eurocodes relevant to civil and structural design
• Understanding of NEC contracts and project delivery frameworks (desirable)
