Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer
Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: £48K
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (6:00am-2:00pm / 2:00pm-10:00pm) No weekend
The Role
We are seeking an Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing site in Watford. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong electrical and mechanical maintenance experience gained within a regulated manufacturing environment.
You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement activities across a range of production equipment and site services, ensuring high levels of reliability, safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance on production equipment.
- Perform fault finding and troubleshooting on automated manufacturing machinery.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks.
- Work on conveyors, motors, drives, sensors and control systems.
- Support site utilities including HVAC, steam systems, compressed air and water systems.
- Ensure compliance with GMP standards and engineering safety procedures.
- Follow Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), isolation and safe working procedures.
- Assist with continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
Candidate Requirements
- Apprentice-trained Engineer with an electrical bias.
- Previous experience within pharmaceutical, food, FMCG or manufacturing environments.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and maintenance skills.
- Good understanding of PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems.
- Experience with motors, drives, sensors, conveyors and control panels.
- Knowledge of preventative and reactive maintenance practices.
- Understanding of GMP, engineering compliance and health & safety procedures.
- Familiar with LOTO and isolation procedures.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of utilities and site services including HVAC, boilers, compressed air and purified water systems.
- Continuous improvement mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
