JOB DESCRIPTION
As a QA Engineer III focused on Compatibility for League of Legends, you will own quality strategy and execution for the League client and game experience across supported platforms, PC hardware configurations, operating systems, drivers, peripherals, and performance tiers. You will partner with engineering, design, production, platform teams, player support, and external QA to help deliver a reliable experience for League players through frequent live-service patches and releases.
You will serve as the compatibility subject-matter expert, using risk-based testing, clear quality signals, and strong cross-functional collaboration to identify issues early, protect player experience, and guide release decisions.

Responsibilities
Own compatibility test strategy, planning, execution, reporting, and readiness recommendations for a League initiative, system, or major release surface.
Define risk-based coverage across League client and game configurations, PC hardware, operating systems, drivers, peripherals, display modes, input devices, graphics settings, and performance tiers; design and execute appropriate functional, regression, exploratory, installation, update, configuration, performance, and recovery testing.
Investigate complex compatibility issues and communicate scope, severity, reproducibility, player impact, environmental variables, coverage gaps, patch risks, and mitigation options.
Partner with engineering, platform, and player-support teams to improve diagnostics, crash and performance analysis, testability, automation, environment provisioning, and compatibility metrics.
Coordinate internal, remote, and external QA resources; mentor junior QA engineers; and contribute reusable test assets, standards, and craft improvements across League QA.

Required Qualifications
6+ years of software quality assurance experience, including leadership of QA efforts for a complex product, feature set, or live-service release.
Experience with compatibility, systems, hardware, client, or platform-focused testing, including risk-based test planning and coverage strategy.
Experience investigating defects across hardware, operating systems, drivers, peripherals, graphics, input, or performance conditions and translating findings into clear release decisions.
Experience working with distributed or external QA teams, operating independently, managing ambiguity, and influencing decisions across disciplines; strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications
Experience testing live-service games, especially PC games with frequent patches and a broad range of player hardware configurations.
Experience with platform certification, device labs, hardware compatibility, driver validation, peripheral testing, crash analysis, performance tooling, telemetry, test automation, or CI validation.
Experience mentoring QA engineers or contributing to QA standards, tooling, and reusable test assets.
ISTQB, ICAgile, or comparable QA certification.
