Section Engineer - Major Civils

Key Responsibilities Health, Safety &amp; Environmental Produce and review Method Statements and Risk Assessments.<br />Prepare Temporary Works Briefs and ensure timely implementation.<br />Deliver site and visitor inductions.<br />Conduct regular H&amp;S inspections and ensure follow-up actions.<br />Prepare and implement Permits to Work (e.g., Permit to Excavate).<br />Mentor junior staff in safety practices and audits.Engineering Control Provide primary setting-out control and determine optimal installation locations.<br />Coach Site Engineers in setting-out methods and technical requirements.<br />Review drawings, specifications and testing requirements with the team.<br />Support engineers with testing processes, ITPs, and quality assurance documentation.Quality Assist with production and submission of handover documentation.<br />Support quality systems such as materials approvals, NCRs and tracking of QA records.<br />Conduct independent inspections on own and other sections.<br />Liaise with designers to resolve technical issues via TQ/RFI routes.Productivity Support preparation of short-term programmes and provide progress quantities.<br />Produce as-built programme information and report weekly.<br />Monitor subcontractor performance and highlight concerns.<br />Communicate weekly targets to supervisors and subcontractors.Commercial Maintain an accurate daily diary, including subcontractor dialogue.<br />Collate weekly measures and monitor material wastage.<br />Support labour and plant reconciliations.<br />Identify additional works and escalate to management.Essential Skills &amp; Experience Core Able to clearly communicate safe systems of work and suggest improvements.<br />Takes ownership of tasks and communicates effectively with all levels.<br />Works independently and identifies opportunities for improvement.<br />Full driving licence, CSCS card, and SSSTS/SMSTS.<br />Strong team player with developed communication skills.
