Materials Administrator
Location:

Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm (37.5 hours per week)
We are recruiting for a
Materials Administrator
to join a well-established engineering business in Swindon. This is a varied and hands-on role that combines office administration with practical workshop support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both desk-based and operational responsibilities.
Approximately 50% of the role will be office-based, with the remaining 50% spent in the workshop working alongside technicians to pick materials, prepare works orders, and ensure components are correctly allocated for engineering assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
Processing and administering works orders and material requirements. Picking components and parts for engineering assemblies in line with production schedules. Cross-checking picked items against engineering paperwork, works orders, and bills of materials to ensure complete accuracy. Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to identify the correct components. Maintaining accurate records using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Liaising with customers and clients over the phone, providing updates and responding to enquiries in a professional manner. Working closely with the workshop team to support production deadlines. Monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages or discrepancies. Ensuring all documentation is accurate, organised, and up to date. Supporting the wider team with general administrative duties as required.
About You
The successful candidate will be highly organised, methodical, and possess exceptional attention to detail. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment where accuracy is critical and deadlines are important.
You will have: Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel. Excellent administrative and organisational skills. Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach. The ability to read and understand engineering drawings. Strong communication skills with a confident and professional telephone manner. Experience within an engineering, manufacturing, production or technical environment is highly desirable. The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. A proactive, flexible and positive attitude. The ability to work effectively as part of a small, close-knit team. Good problem-solving skills and the confidence to take ownership of your workload. A good level of physical fitness, as the role involves regular movement around the workshop and manual picking of materials and components. If you are interested, please apply directly or call
