C# .NET Developer

The role Involves:

• Designing, developing, testing and maintaining business applications, web portals, APIs and internal systems using C# and .NET technologies.
• Analyse business requirements and work directly with users to design practical technical solutions that improve efficiency and support business objectives.
• Support, enhance and modernise existing applications, including assisting with the migration of Legacy systems to modern platforms and architectures.
• Design, maintain and optimise SQL Server databases, ensuring data integrity, performance and scalability while supporting the organisation's reporting and analytical requirements.
• Design and develop reporting solutions, dashboards and data extracts to provide management with timely, accurate and meaningful business information.
• Work with stakeholders to identify reporting requirements and ensure appropriate data structures, database design and data capture processes are implemented to support operational and management reporting.
• Analyse business data and produce reports that assist management with decision-making, performance monitoring, regulatory requirements and operational oversight.
• Develop software in a structured, maintainable and scalable manner using established design principles, coding standards and source control practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application, database and integration issues within business-critical systems.
• Integrate internal systems with third-party platforms, APIs and cloud-based services where required.
• Participate in technical planning, project meetings and business discussions to ensure solutions are delivered on time and meet business requirements.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation relating to systems, processes, integrations and development activities.
• Support the continuous improvement of development processes, automation, security and operational efficiency across the business.
• Provide application and user support for internally developed systems and business applications.
• Contribute to the maintenance and support of the Company's IT systems and technology infrastructure where required.

Essential:

• Commercial experience developing applications using C# and .NET (.NET Core/.NET 8+ preferred).
• IIS, Windows authentication, deployment
• Experience designing, developing and supporting web applications and APIs.
• Strong SQL Server and database design experience.
• Experience with Entity Framework and modern data access techniques.
• Understanding of software architecture, design patterns and SOLID principles.
• Experience working with source control (Git) and structured development processes.
• Ability to analyse business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to document systems and technical solutions clearly.
• Ability to work directly with business users and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience supporting and maintaining business-critical applications.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Working independently in a very small team

Desirable:

• Experience modernising or migrating Legacy systems.
• Knowledge of Classic ASP/VBScript to assist with support and transition of existing applications.
• Knowledge of VBA
• Experience with Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, Storage, Entra ID).
• Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with REST APIs and third-party integrations.
• Experience with Blazor or modern web frameworks.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and AI integration within business applications.
• Experience of working in insurance, financial services or FCA-regulated environments.
• Experience mentoring junior developers and contributing to technical strategy.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure software development practices.
• Experience implementing automation and workflow improvements.
