Cabling Engineer - Bristol

Location: Bristol

Duration: 6 months

Hours: Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Rate: Up to £180 per day

IR35: Outside IR35

Working arrangement: Fully onsite - no hybrid working

Clearance: BPSS required

We are looking for an experienced Senior Cabling Engineer to join an installation team delivering network infrastructure works.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation of network cabinets and primary/secondary containment systems.
• Installation and termination of Cat6/Cat6A structured cabling.
• Copper patching and network switch installation.
• Installation, termination and testing of fibre optic cabling, including pit and duct routes.
• Fibre circuit patching and fault finding, including use of OTDR equipment.
• Testing and certification of copper and fibre cabling using Fluke testers.
• Working to RAMS, project installation methods and site H&S requirements.
• Completing QA documentation, daily reports and relevant site paperwork.
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship and keeping work areas safe and tidy.
• Supporting and supervising installation activities where required.

Key Requirements

• Strong commercial experience in structured cabling installations.
• Experience terminating Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A cabling.
• Experience terminating and testing fibre optic cabling.
• Practical experience using Fluke testers and OTDR equipment.
• Good knowledge of current cabling installation practices.
• Experience working in a senior/lead engineering capacity.
• Strong understanding of site H&S, RAMS and risk assessments.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• BPSS clearance required.
