You will be responsible for driving both short- and long-term engineering targets, supporting plant performance, improving reliability and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the team.This is a hands-on leadership role where you will take ownership of maintenance planning, breakdown response, contractor management, cost control and engineering compliance. You will work closely with production, technical and wider site teams to ensure equipment, buildings and processes support the delivery of safe, high-quality products.Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, coaching and supporting the engineering team to deliver against site priorities
- Ensuring all engineering activity meets health, safety, food safety, GMP and HACCP standards
- Driving preventative maintenance, reliability improvements and effective use of CMMS systems
- Supporting audits, customer visits and technical requirements relating to plant and equipment
- Managing contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and effectively
- Monitoring KPIs, reporting on performance and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
- Controlling engineering costs through effective use of labour, spares and external support
- Encouraging collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement across the function
- Experience in an Engineering Manager or similar leadership role
- Strong knowledge of food safety, GMP, HACCP and health & safety standards
- HND-level education or equivalent technical qualification
- HACCP certification and advanced food hygiene knowledge
- Experience using CMMS systems
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, with SAP experience advantageous
- Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop engineering teams
- A continuous improvement mindset and strong problem-solving capability
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
