Job Description

Role Summary
This position involves leading environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs within a high-tech manufacturing and R&D environment. The EHS Manager oversees compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, promotes safety culture, and supports operational excellence. The role requires strategic leadership, program development, and risk management to ensure a safe and sustainable workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS systems ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO 9001, and other relevant standards.
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal processes.
  • Lead site safety initiatives, injury prevention programs, and operational safety excellence efforts.
  • Conduct risk assessments, root cause investigations, and process safety reviews to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Oversee accident, near-miss, and incident investigations, recommending corrective actions and tracking resolutions.
  • Create and maintain site-specific EHS policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Manage contractor safety programs, onboarding, and site orientation procedures.
  • Perform regular EHS audits, monitor performance indicators, and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs, fostering a culture of environmental and safety awareness.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulatory reporting requirements, such as stormwater and air emissions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Occupational/Industrial Safety, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety management within manufacturing or R&D environments.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related regulatory standards.
  • Proven leadership skills, with ability to influence stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing environmental permits, conducting safety audits, and developing safety programs.
  • Certification such as CSP, OSHA 30/501/2015 courses, and other relevant safety certifications required.
  • Proficiency with EHS management software, audit tools, and safety management systems.
  • Due to the nature of this federal contract, candidates must meet all applicable government contracting eligibility requirements, which may include U.S. citizenship, security clearance eligibility, or other contract-specific requirements.
  • Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment, with flexibility for travel between multiple sites within VA and other states.

Publishing Pay Range: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually

This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
