Job Description

job summary:

Under the direction of EITS Epic Lab leadership, the Epic Beaker Implementation Lead drives the assessment, design, build, and deployment of Epic Beaker at NYC Health + Hospitals. This role focuses on converting legacy systems, harmonizing lab compendiums across multiple facilities, and translating complex clinical and lab workflows into robust technical solutions.

responsibilities:


Key Responsibilities:


  • Compendium Harmonization & Integration: Analyze lab compendiums and resolve discrepancies across three legacy LIS systems (Sunquest, Orchard, Cerner) to establish a standardized Epic Beaker build. Manage HL7 interface data flows.
  • Requirements & Workflow Analysis: Interview clinical end-users and stakeholders to assess business/clinical needs. Translate complex workflows into functional specifications, process flowcharts, and technical documentation.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Manage and execute Model Recommendation Testing (MRT), application testing, integrated testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with PMO leadership, IT teams, and clinical stakeholders to align project scope, mitigate risks, and manage project timelines and deliverables.
  • Documentation & Training: Create comprehensive test plans, technical specs, release notes, end-user guides, and training materials.
  • Team Leadership & Supervision: Provide direction, training, and mentorship to Junior and Level I/II Clinical Business Analysts and consultants; evaluate work products and assist with hiring.




qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:


Education & Experience: Master's or advanced clinical degree plus 2 years of experience leading software requirements (or 1 year in healthcare administration/clinical function); OR Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience in software requirements and clinical systems analysis.


Epic Certifications: Active Epic certifications in Beaker CP, Beaker AP, and Inpatient Orders (current or one version prior).


Preferred Qualifications:


LIS Conversion Experience: Hands-on experience migrating legacy LIS platforms (Sunquest, Orchard, Cerner) to Epic Beaker.


Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in lab ordering/resulting workflows, MRT testing, and HL7 interface communications.


Clinical Background: Prior clinical or laboratory background with experience in at least 2 full life-cycle Epic implementations.
