Intern AI Engineer

Overview

AI & Innovation Full Stack Engineer University Internship Undergraduate Position at DXC Technology. The role targets motivated university students to join the AI & Innovation team as a Full Stack Engineer Intern. You will contribute to frontend and backend work, build and test prototypes, and gain exposure to AI tools and cloud platforms.

What You Will Do

• Assist the team in building and testing frontend and backend components for the platform.
• Help create and update technical documentation for projects and features.
• Participate in team meetings, stand-ups, and sprint ceremonies to understand Agile delivery in practice.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product owners to understand requirements and contribute ideas.
• Learn about and experiment with AI tools and technologies as part of the AI & Innovation workstream.
• Help troubleshoot basic issues in the application stack and support testing activities.
• Stay curious - explore new frameworks, tools, and technologies as they emerge.

Eligibility Requirements

• Study - Currently enrolled in a 3-year university degree and have completed at least 2 years of study. Discipline: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Availability - Able to work full-time depending on study schedule and internship arrangement.
• Work Rights - Must have valid work rights in Australia.

Skills We Are Looking For

• Essential Skills - Basic understanding of frontend development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript); some exposure to a backend language (Python or Node.js); familiarity with Git; basic understanding of databases and SQL; comfortable with Windows and/or Linux; good written and verbal communication; curiosity and willingness to learn; ability to work in a team and ask for help when needed.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Awareness of Docker or containers.
• Interest in AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) or related technologies.
• Experience building a project outside of university (personal project, hackathon, or open source).
• Basic understanding of REST APIs.
