Cassandra / DataStax L3 DBA (Administrator)

Introduction

This position requires a highly skilled individual with at least 6 years of experience in Apache Cassandra / DataStax Enterprise (DSE) administration. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on production experience as a Cassandra L3 DBA/SME and be proficient in Linux-based on-prem Cassandra administration.

Responsibilities

• Installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching of Cassandra/DataStax clusters
• Managing node addition/removal, scaling, cluster expansion, and data-center expansion
• Understanding of Cassandra architecture, replication factor, consistency levels, partitioning, and token/ring management
• Implementing backup, restore, repair, replication, and compaction strategies
• Troubleshooting performance issues related to CPU, memory, disk I/O, latency, tombstones, SSTables, and compaction
• Working with DataStax OpsCenter for monitoring, administration, alerts, and troubleshooting
• Experience with Cassandra Spark and Graph workloads preferred

Requirements

Required Skills:

• 6+ years of experience in Apache Cassandra / DataStax Enterprise (DSE) administration
• Strong hands-on production experience as a Cassandra L3 DBA/SME
• Linux-based on-prem Cassandra administration
• Strong knowledge of Cassandra architecture, replication factor, consistency levels, partitioning, and token/ring management
• Experience with backup, restore, repair, replication, and compaction strategies
• Experience troubleshooting Cassandra performance issues
• Strong experience with DataStax OpsCenter
• Strong Linux administration and shell scripting skills

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Redis Stack administration/support
• Knowledge of Kubernetes-based Cassandra/database administration
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL / MongoDB / MySQL
• Willingness and ability to learn MS SQL Server
