Job Description
Wieseler Spreading is hiring a Farm Mechanic – Equipment Operator to join our team in Faulkton, SD (about 60 miles southwest of Aberdeen). In this role you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and upkeep of our farm machinery and agricultural equipment. You will also operate equipment and assist with other areas of the farm as needed.
Wieseler Spreading - Wieseler Angus is a diversified agricultural operation located in north-central South Dakota. Our operation includes custom manure spreading, custom farming, approximately 4,200 acres of crop production, and a 425-head cow-calf operation. We also raise and sell Black Angus bulls through our annual production sale.
We are a hardworking, hands-on operation where everyone pitches in to get the job done. During planting, harvest, manure spreading, and other busy seasons, longer hours are part of the job.
We offer competitive hourly compensation based on experience, company vehicle, and housing is available.
What you will be doing:
- Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair farm machinery and equipment
- Service tractors, implements, trucks, and manure-spreading equipment
- Perform routine lubrication, fluid changes, and preventative maintenance
- Keep equipment ready for planting, harvest, and other seasonal work
- Operate farm machinery and assist with crop and custom farming activities
- Assist with livestock and cow-calf duties as needed
- Maintain an organized shop and communicate equipment needs or repair issues
- Work extended hours during busy seasons and perform other farm-related duties as assigned
This job is for you if you have:
- Farm, diesel, or agricultural equipment experience preferred
- Knowledge of machinery maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
- Experience operating tractors and other farm equipment
- A dependable, hardworking attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong communication and time-management skills
- Availability for extended hours during busy seasons
- Spanish or bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus
